At Hoosier Courts Nursery School, young children learn through play and interaction with their environment. Our curriculum is based on the needs, interests, and concerns of the children. Teachers nurture warm, mutually trusting relationships and help children develop critical problem-solving skills.
Demand often exceeds our capacity. Therefore, we encourage parents to complete the waitlist form as soon as possible.

Families who wish to are encouraged to participate in the classroom. This is an invitation, not a mandate. Helping out in the classroom is a good way to learn firsthand what your child’s day is like, and to get to know the teachers. Children look forward to having their parent come and spend time with them in the classroom and meet their friends. If you choose this plan (Plan 2), then you would come and help in the classroom as many days per semester as your child attends per week. For example, if your child attends Hoosier Courts five mornings a week, you would come and help in the classroom five mornings per semester. In addition to helping in the classroom, families on Plan 2 sign up for a classroom chore. These chores are designed to help us keep the classroom as safe and hygienic as possible for the children. Examples of chores that families may sign up for may include washing down children’s cubbies, washing and disinfecting plastic manipulative toys, and washing paint pots and brushes. Some chores need to be done weekly. Other chores are done monthly.
Families on Plan 2 get a slight reduction in their tuition as a token “thank you for their assistance, both in the classroom and with the chores.
I truly love Hoosier Courts. I can't imagine sending my daughter to any other child care center in Bloomington. Their philosophy that children learn best through play, the messier the better, is exactly in line with my philosophy as a parent...The learning is constant, as is the love and support that the teachers give each child.

The school operates on the same yearly schedule as Indiana University. If Indiana University closes campus due to extreme weather, Hoosier Courts Nursery will also close. However, if MCCSC (Monroe County public schools) close due to extreme weather, Hoosier Courts Nursery will remain open UNLESS Indiana University closes as well.
Please note: these dates may change according to the IU academic calendar. The center always closes for a 2 week winter break and tuition is NOT charged.
